Dog Behavior Training - It’s A Must!
Posted by admin on August 10th, 2008 filed in GeneralThere is nothing worse than an out of control dog for you and your family members.
Dog behaviour training is crucial to ensure that your family, guests and your pet continue to co-exist without complications.
The following are 3 basic levels of dog training:
Cleanliness Training for Home: Your dog is a clean animal; he loves remaining clean and maintains his surroundings cleaner. You need to encourage your dog to excrete urine and solid waste out of the home, dogs are natural when adapting to this. They would rather do it out of the home than on carpets, however if you brought your puppy home rather young, this training becomes a necessity.
Barking Control Training: Your dog will bark, it is natural for him just the way we speak; therefore, it is not fair to expect your dog will not make any noise at all. However, if not checked this barking can go out of control and your dog will get into the habit of barking at anything and everything. Dog behavior training will help you see simple tricks how you could train your dog to bark only when required.
Control over Biting or Mouthing: It is very normal for your dog to chew something interesting; however this habit can become hazardous if you have small children in your home. Again at times your dog may hold your hand in his teeth, but your dog should be taught how much pressure is allowable and how he should control himself. Small puppies seldom hurt, but if the habit is not checked until it grows into an adult dog, the habit will persist making it impossible to take care of your dog.
Above are three basic areas where dogs need to be trained. There are many more areas to dog behavior training like the coprophagia, crate training, answering calls, obedience training, etc.
